New Girl-Paradise by the Dashboard Light | 8 scoops from Zooey Deschanel and Liz Meriwether
New Girl-Paradise by the Dashboard Light
Life-changing revelations, rampant bribery, vehicular sex, addiction, international intrigue, threats of violence (nay, murder!), a valiant act of self-sacrifice, an unsolvable love triangle, and even a bit of original music. It may not have seemed like it, but New Girl‘s season 3 premiere had all the elements of a classic high drama. Admittedly, it didn’t all fit together perfectly. But, New Girl, you’ve never let me down before. Like Nick, Jess, and one of Winston’s puzzles, there are good, solid foundations there. I’m confident that over the course of the next 20-odd episodes, everything will fall into place (maybe with the help of an almond or two).
So, as we learned last week, this year’s opener began exactly where last season closed: Jess and Nick were in the car — amorous, “weirdly all-in,” and — after some backseat love-makin’ — unsure what to do next. They decided to head back home, but, doubt set in as soon as they approached the loft door. Were they really ready to live together after only 30 minutes (or so) of dating? Simultaneously, they were hit by a barrage of text messages from Schmidt — who was still very much in the throes of a love triangle with Cece and Elizabeth (more on that later). Despite only receiving about 10 of Schmidt’s average of 40 texts a day, they became convinced they’d never make it as a couple without some time alone. So they gave their roomies the slip, got back into the car, and drove once more into the night. Nick woke up the next morning with the sounds of mariachi music and a waft of churro-y deliciousness in the air. ¡Viva Mexico!
After picking up a piñata shaped like a monkey, the young lovers spent the next four days “getting to know each other,” ripping off parts of their wedding outfits, working on their tans, and (in Jess’s case) getting sassy hair braids. In short, they were ignoring their problems. Other things they were ignoring? General hygiene, the feral dogs watching them have sex, and Schmidt’s calls. Somewhere amid all the sexytimes, they’d transformed the back of Jess’s Volvo into a sweet little hovel, which was shaded by woven blankets and stocked with Jarritos (Naranja y Fresa!). True to character, Jess was beginning to accept that this set-up wasn’t sustainable. But Nick, God love him, wasn’t ready to surrender his “mega-chill” Paradise self yet, and he convinced Jess to sneak into the swanky beach resort about 200 yards up the beach.
The big changes: Nick and Jess will be a couple this season, a move that’s met with mixed reactions from others in the loft. The big non-changes? We’re in for fun adventures, great guest stars and general hilarity. For the details, courtesy of star Zooey Deschanel and exec producer Liz Meriwether, read on…
+ Jess and Nick’s challenges as a couple will take center stage, at least in the beginning of the season.
“It’s just added a lot of great things for Zooey and Jake [Johnson] to play, and the way it changes the dynamic in the loft has been really funny,” says Meriwether of making Jess and Nick a couple. “We’ve gotten a lot of great comedy out of the struggle of having a couple as roommates, which has been really funny to write to.”
Their first struggle? In the premiere, we see Nick and Jess make the impulsive decision to head south of the border together “in the excitement of getting together,” but soon “some shenanigans ensue and they need some rescuing,” Meriwether says.
Their friends may be able to help them out in Mexico, but when it comes to their relationship, Deschanel says they’re on their own and will have to be up for the task. “I think both of them are just on the edge of breaking up the relationship by being mature. But I think that’s what’s exciting; it’s like watching a tightrope walker.”
+ Schimidt makes a decision in the premiere
Cece (Hannah Simone) or Elizabeth (Merritt Wever)? That’s the choice in front of Schmidt (Max Greenfield) as the new season begins, and the premiere will see him make a choice, says Meriwether. “I think he has a real dilemma in front of him in the premiere, and hopefully the audience will go with us for the choice he makes. I don’t know; we’ll see,” she says. But will his pick be a surprise? “I think it is,” Meriwether says. “I think it’ll be a little bit a surprise.” For the record, Simone isn’t going anywhere, and Nurse Jackie‘s Wever is set to appear in three episodes. (Should we read into that?)
+ Speaking of Schmidt…
He’s not happy with Nick and Jess being in a couple. “There’ll be battles with Schmidt a good part of the year,” says Meriwether. “He’s actively trying to break them up, so they have to contend with that.”
+ Prepare for the return of Coach!
Yes, Damon Wayans Jr. is currently set to return in the seventh episode of the new season as Coach, a character last seen in the pilot. (Back in the first season, Wayans’ Happy Endings was renewed, preventing him from continuing on New Girl.) And Meriwether couldn’t be more thrilled. Someone who won’t be so happy? Winston (Lamorne Morris). “What I think is fun is that he’s this Alpha male character. [Other than him there] are three weirdo guy characters, and he’s going to bring this very male, confident energy to the group. How that challenges all three of the guys will be fun to watch, especially when Winston is very insecure about him coming back,” teases Meriwether.
+ Speaking of Winston…
“I think we’re having fun with Winston and him trying to find love in all the wrong places,” says Meriwether. But the difference this season is “he’s trying to embrace his weirdness and not try to be anything for any girl. What I’m trying to say is that he’s letting his freak flag fly, I guess,” says Meriwether with a laugh. “He’s learning how to be a little true to himself with women and not get so nervous about being cool. He’s still on that journey.”
+Bonus scooplets…
- Relationship issues will come their way, but Jess will also have some work problems to deal with — namely her struggle trying to fit in with her co-workers, played by Angela Kinsey and Dreama Walker. ”Jess was a nerd in high school and Nick was kind of cool, so he’s offering his advice on how to be cool,” previews Deschanel.
- Jess is getting a sister! But just don’t look for Deschanel’s real-life sister Emily Deschanel to take the part. “That would be funny, but I don’t think we’re going to be able to,” says Meriwether. “I would love to have her on the show in another way at some point — just probably “
- The loft has a new furry friend! No, none of the guys are getting a goatee … we’re talking about a cat. “Winston steals his ex-girlfriend’s cat, and the loft has a cat now named Ferguson,” says animal lover Deschanel. “It’s a really, really cute cat.”
January Jones Topless In New Movie Sweetwater Fans are Waiting
January Jones Topless In New Movie Sweetwater Fans are Waiting
The world is seeing a new side of January Jones, best known for playing wife Betty Draper on AMC’s “Mad Men,” after the actress starred in a movie that required her to go topless.
Photos have surfaced of the 35-year-old Jones topless (WARNING: photos are NSFW) for her new role in the film “Sweetwater,” which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January. However, now that the film, billed on IMDB.com as “Sweet Vengeance,” has debuted on DVD in the UK, stills from the movie emerged online of a half-naked Jones. The Daily Mail also has the trailer and other movie stills, showing Jones with her new red-colored hair and toting around a gun.
The film is a Western thriller set in the 1800s. It follows Sarah (Jones), an ex-prostitute who has recently become a widow, as she gets her revenge “on the rugged plains of the New Mexico Territory.” That’s when she gets into a battle with Sheriff Jackson, played by Ed Harris, and a prophet, played by Jason Isaacs, who have wronged her and her deceased husband.
So far, there is no U.S. release date so it is unclear whether or not the film will make it to theaters. However, “Sweet Vengeance” is set to premiere in France in early October.
The announcement of their breakup came on the heels of reports that the Australian actor was caught sending naughty text messages to the blond star.
Hemsworth's rep vehemently denied the report, calling it "tabloid fiction," but it was the second time that he and Jones had been linked, the first coming when they were spotted leaving an Oscars party together back in February.
"January and Liam have not seen each other at all since the photos that were taken in February and they have not kept in touch," the source added.
Since the breakup revelation, Hemsworth has been spotted out in Los Angeles with Mexican singer-actress Eiza González Monday afternoon.
The two were first seen getting cozy in Las Vegas at the Encore hotel nightclub XS on Saturday evening.
Scott Eastwood follows his fathers footsteps
Scott Eastwood follows his fathers footsteps
Take a look at his son, Scott Eastwood, who smolders in the October issue of Town & Country magazine – and conjures up images of his handsome father in his Dirty Harry days.
The 27-year-old Monterey, Calif., native, whose mother is Jacelyn Reeves, also shares something else with his famous father: a passion for acting. In September, he began filming Fury, a World War II movie with Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeouf, and next appears in the film The Perfect Wave, playing a surfer seeking the ultimate swell.
He's also appeared alongside his recently separated father in Flags of Our Fathers, Gran Torino and Trouble with the Curve, but the younger Eastwood insists he's paid his dues like everyone else.
"People assumed that I would have everything handed to me, but that couldn't be further from the truth," he said, ticking off odd jobs he's held including bar tending, working construction and valeting cars. "I was on my own just doing the grind."
"As a director and an actor, my dad's motto is 'Tell the truth.' The only way of doing that is having life experiences and being a storyteller," he told the magazine.
Another thing he seems to have inherited from his father? Straight-talking ambition.
"I want to be a man's man – not a kid actor or a glitzy pop star but a no bull–– leading man," he declared.
With those rugged good looks, we predict anything's possible.
“People assumed that I would have everything handed to me, but that couldn't be further from the truth," he said. "I was on my own just doing the grind.”
Scott first started modeling in college, according to Interview magazine, and then switched over to acting. He made appearances in Clint's 2006 film "Flags of Our Fathers," and then in 2008's box office hit "Gran Torino." But the Monterey, Calif., native has bigger dreams.
“I want to be a man's man — not a kid actor or a glitzy pop star but a no-bullshit leading man," he told Town & Country, adding, “As a director and an actor, my dad's motto is 'Tell the truth.' The only way of doing that is having life experiences and being a storyteller.”
Want to see more of Scott? The heartthrob has joined the cast of David Ayer's WWII flick, "Fury," due out in 2014, according to Deadline.com. He appears alongside Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf and Logan Lerman.

iOS 7 release time-IOS 7 World Wide Release Download and Enoy
IOS 7 World Wide Release Download and Enoy
iOS 7 will be available to download today. While iOS 7 represents a total overhaul to Apple’s mobile OS, only time will tell what the mainstream public reaction will be to the changes that represent the post Scott Forstall era at Apple. If you have a compatible device capable of running iOS 7, then it’s time to back up that device, make a note of the release schedule and get ready to hammer Apple’s authentication servers.
If we take a look back at release times of major iOS releases, almost all of the iOS 7 beta builds were released at 10am PDT (Pacific Time). All of Apple’s previous major iOS releases, including iOS 6.0, were released to public at 10am PT. If the release schedules of previous versions of iOS are anything to go by, it is safe to say that iOS 7 will be released to public today at 10am PT / 1pm ET in the United States.
Instead, Apple will be "pulsing" the release of iOS 7 to users in staggered waves according to their time zone. Thus evenly distributing the server load and ensuring that everyone that wants it can get it in a reasonable amount of time.
Here are a few tips on how to get iOS 7 as soon as absolutely possible:
1. First, perform a backup right now. Don't wait for iOS 7 to land only to remember that you didn't make a backup. Do it now, so that you're ready to go as soon as iOS 7 hits your Settings app. This document explains how to backup your iPhone or iPad to iCloud (my preference) or to iTunes.
2. If you're a registered developer (and impatient), you can download the GM (or "Golden Master") version of the code right now. It's been posted on Apple's Developer Center since just after its media event on September 10. While the final release can sometime vary from GM code, it doesn't happen that often.
3. One of its dirty little secrets is that Apple doesn't push software updates automatically app very often. Sometimes you'll get a push notification (or the red software-update-is-waiting badge on your Settings app) but most times you won't. In order to get the iOS 7 update as soon as possible, manually touch Settings > General > Software Update and force it to check.
4. Lastly, if you're tired and need to get some sleep before your big day tomorrow, make sure that your iPhone or iPad is connected to Wi-Fi and power before you go to bed and it will continue to check for the iOS 7 update overnight. If you're lucky, it'll be waiting for you when you wake up in the morning. (If you don't see the push notification or Settings badge in the morning, touch Settings > General > Software Update to force another update.)
5. Pro Tip: Update all of your iOS apps now (easily done with "Update All") ahead of the iOS 7 release. There's a crush of updates coming out day-and-date with iOS 7 and Apple's servers are only going to bog down further as the day goes on.
Enjoy it and post the arrival time (and your locale) in the TalkBack below.
